This poster is printed on an amazing sticky-back fabric called Photo Tex which when removed from the wall leaves no residue. It can be peeled off and repositioned hundreds of times. It's perfect for dorm rooms and class rooms. It sticks to almost all flat surfaces such as glass, metal, and walls.

The Periodic Table of Typefaces was designed by Camdon Wilde of Squid Spot in the style of the over-sized Periodic Table of Elements posters hanging in schools and homes around the world. This particular table lists 100 of the most popular, influential and notorious typefaces today.

As with traditional periodic tables, this table presents the subject matter grouped categorically. The Table of Typefaces groups by families and classes of typefaces: sans-serif, serif, script, blackletter, glyphic, display, grotesque, realist, didone, garalde, geometric, humanist, slab-serif and mixed.

Each cell of the table lists the typeface and a one or two character "symbol" (made up by me simply based on logic), the designer, year designed and a ranking of 1 through 100.

Ranking was determined by statistically sorting and combining lists and opinions from the sites listed below. The final overall ranking was achieved depending on how many lists the particular typeface was presented on and it's ranking on the lists (if the particular source list used a ranking system; some did not, in which case just the typeface's presence on the list boosted it's overall score.) After averaging the typefaces appearances and rankings a composite score was given and the list was sorted on a spreadsheet then finally given an overall score of 1 through 100 based on its final resting position.

Although the typefaces are not sorted exactly numerically on the table, upon close inspection, you find that they are ordered within their family/class groupings.

Fortunately, "Deep Sea Lovers" isn't that deep – it's simply about sharing the activities that bring us joy. For me, real joy comes in the form of body boarding, snow skiing and seeing the beautiful world beneath the waves. And if you can share it with someone special – well then – you pretty much have it all."

"When I moved to Los Angeles in the late 80's, all I brought with me was a mountain bike, a box of art stuff and an old Panasonic boom box that I bought in 1981. Lucky for me, I had a college friend in Fullerton who lived in an apartment complex that could have easily been the set of ‘Melrose Place.' He had an upstairs unit that couldn't have been more than 500 sq. ft. but that didn't stop him from offering me his couch for a few months. Mike was a good guy who grew up in Southern California. When I first arrived, I remember being handed a gin and tonic and being told to stand at one end of the courtyard so we could play Frisbee. I remember thinking, “Man, this is awesome – and it's frigg'in January!”

Later that afternoon, Mike drove us to Zuma Beach in Malibu where we were promptly issued citations for drinking beer on the beach. The $75 ticket was a real bummer but the worst was being surrounded by three officers on bright yellow ATVs while onlookers gathered around to gawk and point at the drunks. How humiliating! In the end, I thought Zuma was beautiful. Never in my wildest dreams did I expect that I'd live so close to this beach – but then again, who would have thought I'd still be listening to my '81 boom box while I created this retrospective tribute to a wonderful time – way back when on Zuma Beach."

Wine Boggling

"Is it me? Or is it more stressful to buy wine than mutual funds? I started thinking about this when I noticed that my mouse will hover over the 'buy fund button' on my broker's web page for about 3 minutes versus the 30 minutes or so I spend in the wine aisle trying to decide what I'm going to bring to the dinner party. Choose the wrong mutual fund and you'll just have to wait a little bit until the market turns around; choose the wrong wine and you could seriously jeopardize your social standing: "Egads! Who brought this vile rot?"

To get the help I needed, I first had to stop judging self-proclaimed wine lovers as just another version of the childhood story, The Emperor's New Clothes. "Oh my...the bouquet on this Pinot is to die for!" All that used to make me sick to my stomach until one of these connoisseurs bravely invited me to join her and her friends for some wine tasting. After only 10 minutes of trying this wine and that wine, I not only learned that it's good to have friends that know something about wine, I discovered that the emperor really does look sporty in his new getup! "Wine Boggling" is part of my "A La Art Series" and promises not to pass judgment if you happen to enjoy wine from a box."

"As a social media minimalist, I was surprised to find myself on a website that provided a glossary of Twitter terms – better known as a 'twittonary.' After carefully reading through the definitions, I figure I'm somewhere between 'twittphilia' (an obsession with all things Twitter) and 'twittanoia' (an intense aversion to Twitter). And I've never personally experienced 'twittphoria' (the elation one feels when the person you've added decides to follow you back) or 'twittilation' (um…you can figure that one out for yourself). So when I saw that 'twurfer' wasn't on the list (or on any other list), I decided to come up with my own definition (any wave rider willing to tweet surf conditions between sets) as well as create an image surrounding the 'twurfer dude.'"

"Despite sounding like a disguised tribute to my favorite Jack Black movie, "Skull of Rock" is a composition that captures my favorite things to do in L.A. around Halloween – activities I could never do growing up in suburban Philadelphia. With the summer heat lasting deep into the Fall and kids packed into classrooms, I’m free to climb rocks around "Skull Rock" in Joshua Tree National Park and to enjoy near empty beaches with a boogie board strapped to my wrist! Even after 20 years, I still miss the spectacular autumns of the North East, but listening to the sounds of desert silence and sharing waves with dolphins and seals more than makes up for it! Happy Halloween!"

"I'm going to guess that the punk rock scene doesn't come to mind when you think of Raleigh, North Carolina in the mid 80's. What made this guy interesting enough to sketch while having a drink in a busy college town bar is the same reason why I brought him ‘back to life' twenty years later. Sure, he stood out amongst the former debutants and rural farm boys looking to be first generation college graduates; but, it was his obvious arrogance and dismissive glances that helped me clarify how to draw this non-conformist. While I admire people who dare to buck fashion trends and social norms, I will take issue with those who do so in a manner that implies superiority. Can't they see that they're exhibiting the same narrow-mindedness that drives the discriminative remarks and disapproving stares that no doubt pepper their own day? To me, the challenging and combative attitude only suggests a discomfort with one's own chosen identity. And my guess is that the girls and boys from the tobacco fields and dairy farms picked up on that as well because the punk rocker didn't last long in the joint before being forced out into the damp Carolina night. I'm sure he rejoined his friends that evening with a seething account of how unfairly he was treated but I have to say he brought it on himself."

"Okay. Here goes. "Pop Star" was inspired by a reality television show. There. I said it. Sorry if I made you spill your Pinot Noir with that unseemly revelation, but I had to come clean. And to make matters worse, that inspiration came from none other than the last season of 'American Idol.' But as trivial and commercial as that sounds, I couldn't help being attracted to the passion and courage of the show's final contestants. Putting questionable guest artists and predictable show formats aside, these young people pumped me up each week because when the music was cued, rather than being afraid of failing in front of a national TV audience – they had the courage to succeed. In the "Pop Star" composition, I tried to convey a whirlwind of intrusive activity that practically engulfs our budding superstar – but instead of being swept away by the Hollywood Machine, we see an artist more focused on making her audience feel what she feels. Two tickets, please!"

"Sometimes (when I'm desperate enough) a movie scene can provide me with all the inspiration I need to create a new piece of art. Remember, "Show me the money!" from the Tom Cruise picture "Jerry Maguire?" Great – but this composition isn't about that. Same movie though. Instead, 'Paper Doll' stems from what a coach bound Renee Zellwegger tells her son about First Class while taxiing down the runway. Simply put, 'Paper Doll' is about wanting to be somewhere else – and everyone knows that somewhere else is always better – right? The girl in this piece believes she can be clipped out like a paper doll and attached to a place where everything is seemingly perfect – or as Ms. Zellwegger put it, "It used to be a better seat, now it's just a better life."

"I want my MTVVVVV..." Back in the eighties, teenage distractions consisted of things like Pac-Man, Rubik's Cubes and of course – MTV. Fascinating stuff at the time but not addicting enough to have driven us into the abyss like we're seeing with so many of today's kids – but to be fair, we didn't have Play Stations, Twitter pages or YouTube. We couldn't even...gulp...text each other! "Just Peachy" is about how all these distractions, though fun, can lead to an unpreparedness when it comes time to focus on achieving independence. With such a harsh wake-up call looming around the corner, will she be able to overcome the pull of the rabbit hole? Chances are she will. If we managed to get somewhere in life, so will she – even if MTV is now a podcast download.

"I'm really not sure what inspired me to do this composition. How strange – a strong premonition without the usual moment of Zen? Did I watch too many episodes of 'Dr. 90210'? Spend too much time eavesdropping on gossiping gym hotties? Or is this piece the result of subconsciously acting out against those sultry LA art gallery managers who feigned interest in my modest portfolio? The key to this work is the background – which offers at least one reason for this woman's expression. I wanted the mosaic to embody the hardwired look of a circuit board schematic coupled with the busy attributes of a downtown map highlighting the trendy hotspots of the bold and beautiful. That way, I can suggest that this particular citizen of Glamtropolis has finally burned out from the seemingly endless loop of having to see and be seen."

I think a lot of us walk around thinking to ourselves that we're underrated and underappreciated - undiscovered gems just waiting to enlighten the world with our wit and charms. If only someone would see through our contradictory exterior, they'd 'win the lottery' with our ability to be a treasured friend or life partner. This composition attempts to delve deeper than the "to know me is to love me" adage to expose and depict how self-defeating behaviors are the real reasons behind a life of isolation. While mazes, circles and crossed lines offer a rationale that no one is unreachable, bold arrows point to what we're unable to say: don't just find me - break me.

I'm not exactly sure when it happened – when I went straight from thinking, "Are you kidding me?" to mouthing the words, "Beam Me Up!" I mean, I didn't even get to experience the slightly less cynical "Take me with you!" stage. What's that you ask? What am I even talking about? Oh, I'm sorry. You're not familiar with the classic social evolution of sensitive artists (my bad). Fortunately, I have a nice summary for you: Stage 1 – "Are you kidding me?!" – One becomes aware of surrounding morons. Stage 2 – "Take me with you!" – One begins to cling to the less moronic. Stage 3 – "Beam Me Up!" – One finally realizes that they are utterly alone on this planet. Even though the mother ship hasn't responded to my persistent calls for rescue (sigh), I'm ready when they're ready but the best of what I've experienced will be neatly packed in my carry-on.
