The Hand Returns to the Lens
On November 12th from 3:30pm-7:30pm Pi Studio Printing will be presenting an exhibition exploring a new 21st Century artistic medium that uses secret techniques of the Old Masters. Please join us for an event with John Fielder, award-winning Ventura County artist as he explores a burgeoning new realm of digital art in which “the hand returns to the lens.”
This exhibition has been inspired by David Hockney’s meticulously researched tome, “Secret Knowledge: Rediscovering the Lost Techniques of the Old Masters,” in which he declares that great works of Western Art from the 1500’s through the 1800’s could not have been created without the secretive use of mirrors and lenses as tools to transfer living images onto a canvas. Today many artists use digital photography and Photoshop much in the same manner to create their work.
Stop by our studio to meet John Fielder and view his beautiful fine art photographic conversions. Learn about his unique digital creation methods. His subjects very from sports to country life to colorful Italian scenes. There is sure to be something for everyone to enjoy. “The Afternoon Patrol” shown here is only one example from his award-winning “Roosters of Fillmore” series.
Refreshments will served and prizes from Vie, the Spa, Pi Studio Printing and others will be raffled off.
Looking for unique holiday gifts? The appealing range of Fielder’s pieces presented will be for sale throughout November and also on our website.
